BHPO

The Beverly Hills Post Office (BHPO) neighborhood borders Beverly Hills to the north, which means its features are similar but exaggerated. For instance, as you climb higher into the hills to get to the exclusive BHPO neighborhood, you’ll find that the views intensify, the surprisingly green hills become lusher, and mansions become palace-like.

BHPO was founded a little bit after Beverly Hills, during the 1960’s. For this reason, many of the homes feature state-of-the-art mid-century modern design—but there is still plenty of architectural diversity. However, one thing remains constant: homes in this neighborhood feel more like palaces than single-family houses, with extensive, manicured grounds and sprawling square-footage.

The most high-end residential communities can be found in BHPO, most of them with a guard gate and ample privacy.

  • The residential crowd is made up of… immense estates in a variety of styles, each with a park-like lawn and delightful amenities (like a personal bowling alley or spa).
  • The lifestyle offered is… the pinnacle of elegance and luxury. Those looking to find their own private fortress to call home should explore this neighborhood.
  • The most popular building style is… mid-century modern mansions, but you’ll also find plenty of other styles to suit your taste.
  • The average home price is… $5.9 million.
  • The area’s greatest highlight is… the built-in community security. Popular communities like Mulholland Estates and Beverly Park come witha large guard gate and on-site security.
  • The area’s best driving-distance getaway is… Ojai, California’s wineries! This picturesque small city and vineyards are just an hour and half’s drive away.
  • The best spot to dine fancy is… the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel. A household name, this elegant hotel with a bit of a retro feel has made appearances in many films and is frequented by the who’s who of Hollywood. There are three different dining options to choose from: the classic Polo Lounge, the old-school Fountain Coffee Room, and the open-air The Cabana Café.
  • The best spot to find entertainment is… the Greystone Mansion. This historic mansion and its luxurious grounds serve as a public park. Community events are put on frequently, including live music and theatre productions.
  • The best spot to go shopping is… Rodeo Drive. Though technically in Beverly Hills, this famous, designer-laden strip is worth the short drive down from the mountains.
